The snow-sure areas in the Black Forest lure piste fans in the winter months with more than 2000 groomed and groomed trails in the mountains. In the southern Black Forest and the Upper Black Forest are the regions in the Todtnauer Ferienland, in the Feldberg area, around Triberg, Schonach, Furtwangen and St. Georgen are outstanding cross-country skiing areas.

With their dynamism, skaters rely on groomed trails. Classic cross-country skiing requires good technique, but can then also be used on easy stretches as well as on steeper climbs and descents.

Without any difficult climbs or complicated descents, you will find numerous cross-country trails in the southern Black Forest. The cross-country center Dead moss-Gersbach and the neighboring town Bernau offer a total of around 100 kilometers of trails that are fun for both children and adults. The Silberbach trail with 2,3 km in Vordertodtmoos is ideal for the first “steps”.

Hinterzarten awaits all cross-country skiing enthusiasts on 11 groomed trails with a length of 90 kilometers. At an altitude of 850 to 880 meters are:

  • Easy to master Hochmoor-Loipe, Seebach-Loipe and Zartenbach-Loipe with lengths of 1,9 to 5,5 kilometers. Hochmoor- and Zartenbachloipe also have a track for skaters.

Cross-country ski trails to enjoy and panoramic tours

In the thickly snow-covered winter wonderland you can enjoy the beauties of the snow-covered Black Forest or the wide view over the plateaus with the alpine panorama on the horizon. You will find such pleasure trails, for example, in the region around Furtwangen with a length of 6,6 kilometers and no significant climbs or descents. Along the edge of the forest, you can experience the snow-covered forests and magnificent views without having to make any particular effort.

Demanding trails with a few challenges

Rapid descents and climbs, which place some demands on the condition, await you all around the Feldberg in Titisee-Neustadt with a total length of 8,1 kilometers. The lowest point here is at 855 meters and the highest point at 1030 meters. Immediately after the start a steep ascent begins and after about 4 kilometers there is another steep and steady climb up the mountain.

In the Zeller Bergland, the Fröhnd-Gresgener Höhenloipe with a total length of 22.8 kilometers is a real challenge for all physically strong runners. The first 4,5 kilometer ascent leads from the lowest point at 715 meters to the highest point at 955 meters. The route on the way is partly wavy and hilly. You mostly run through wooded areas and in clear places wonderful views over the snow-covered landscape reward all efforts.
