Content:

The Badnerlied is not an official national anthem of the former Grand Duchy of Baden. Although the considerations were there, they were not pursued further. Individual text passages such as "Fortress of Rastatt" indicate that the Badnerlied was composed around 1865.

Although it is not an official anthem, the Badnerlied is sung in the stadium before the kick-off of a game at many sports clubs such as SC Freiburg, Karlsruher SC or TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Badnerlied lyrics:

The most beautiful country in Germany's Gau'n,
this is my Badner country.
It's so wonderful to look at
and rests in God's hands.
Refrain:
That's why I greet you my Badnerland,
You noble pearl in the German land, German land.
fresh up, fresh up; fresh up, fresh up;
fresh on, fresh on my Badnerland.
In Haslach they dig silver ore,
The Freiburg the wine grows,
beautiful girls in the Black Forest,
I would like to be a Badner.
That's why I greet you my Badnerland,
You noble pearl in the German land, German land.
fresh up, fresh up; fresh up, fresh up;
fresh on, fresh on my Badnerland.
In Karlsruhe is the residence
in Mannheim the factory.
In Rastatt is the fortress
and that is Baden's happiness.
That's why I greet you my Badnerland,
You noble pearl in the German land, German land.
fresh up, fresh up; fresh up, fresh up;
fresh on, fresh on my Badnerland.
Old Heidelberg, you fine,
you city rich in honor,
on the Neckar and on the Rheine,
no other is like you.
That's why I greet you my Badnerland,
You noble pearl in the German land, German land.
fresh up, fresh up; fresh up, fresh up;
fresh on, fresh on my Badnerland.
The peasant and the nobleman
the proud military
they look at each other friendly,
and that is Baden's honor.
