Kandelfelsen near St. Peter
The Kandel rock face near St. Peter is undoubtedly the most famous among avid climbers. Located on the western slope of the Kandel mountain , the rock is situated at an altitude of 1100 meters. "Gfäll" near Oberried
The "Gfäll" near Oberried, close to Freiburg, is the largest and most popular climbing area in the southern Black Forest. Scattered along the western slope of the Hochfahrn mountain are cliffs reaching heights of up to 70 meters. More than 100 different routes offer varying levels of difficulty and lengths from 10 to 100 meters. Thanks to the excellent rock quality, all routes can be well protected. This makes it easy for beginners and families to find the right climb. The large rock formations are home to numerous animal and plant species.
With a wall height of 100 meters, the disk cliffs rise up from the Zastertal. However, you can only climb up to a height of 30 meters on the lower rocks. The rock faces are particularly suitable for demanding climbers because of the steeply sloping rock faces. 27 tours from 5 to 8 degrees are possible, the climber must also have a 60 meter long rope.
Climbing in the Schlüchtal
The deeply cut Schlüchtal has a grandiose rock landscape. The varied routes on the up to 100 meter high cliffs already have an alpine character.

The Windberg crag lies on a sunny south-facing slope above St. Blasien . Easy routes, convenient access, and large, flat areas make this climbing area particularly popular with beginners and families. Eighty routes, ranging in difficulty from 2 to 9 and in length from 5 to 30 meters, cater to all skill levels.
Altvogelbachfels near Badenweiler
The Altvogelbachfels near Badenweiler is situated in a shady location and is suitable for demanding climbers . It offers 60 routes ranging in difficulty from 5 to 8 degrees over a wall height of 10 to 25 meters.
Friction climbing in the Middle Black Forest
The special type of climbing is sloping and friction climbing. Round, poorly structured and sloping handles are characteristic of sloping. An extraordinary rocky landscape awaits climbers in the Battert nature reserve near Baden-Baden . The rugged porphyry cliffs offer a challenge for both beginners and advanced climbers. These cliffs constitute the most important climbing area for sport climbers in the Black Forest. However, the scree field at Battert is a protected biotope and must not be entered. The Battert cliffs range in height from 15 to 55 meters. The picturesque rock formations offer a wealth of routes of varying difficulty. Most climbing takes place on the walls between the "Badener Wand" (Baden Wall) and the "Drei Halten" (Three Holds). The most difficult climb is "Der Block" (The Block), rated at grade 10.
