Where is Kandern?
Kandern is a municipality in the southern Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg with around 8.500 inhabitants at an altitude of 352 m above sea level. The city has several districts such as:

The city is located exactly at the transition between the Rhine plain and the Black Forest in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland Lörrach and 21 km from Badenweiler .
How to get to Kandern by car?
The fastest route from the north, by car in the direction of Badenweiler, is via the A 5 Karlsruhe – Basel. From Badenweiler to Kandern it is only 21 km.
What is there to do in the city?
Anyone arriving with a child or children should definitely take advantage of the Kandern children's holiday program with many exciting activities for children, but also for young holiday guests. The little guests should not miss the forest adventure trail with a length of 3,5 m and great stations.
Sights in the region
At the beginning of your stay you should take it easy. The "Theater im Hof" is a good choice, with a small stage under a chestnut tree. The "Theater im Hof" in the district of Riedlingen is a spectacle under the starry sky.
If you want to experience something without having to walk long distances, you should try the "Kandertal Railway" drive. The railway is not quite comparable to the "Orientexpress", but it is the only standard-gauge branch line in Baden-Württemberg and at the same time also a "museum railway". At 13 km, the route is not quite as long as that of the Orient Express, but it is no less interesting. You absolutely have to experience it!
