The Geigerskopf Tower is a remarkable lookout tower that stands on top of the Geigerskopf landmark. With a height of 20 meters, this tower offers a magnificent view of the wide Rhine Valley and, on a clear day, even as far as the Vosges.

history of the tower

The Geigerskopf Tower has an interesting history that dates back to 1884. At that time, the first lookout structure was unveiled by the local Black Forest association. However, this scaffolding was only three meters high and was eventually replaced by a wooden tower in 1896.

Over the years, the tower has undergone several remodeling and improvements. The third tower was erected in 1953 and the current fourth tower, known as the Rainbow Tower, was inaugurated in July 2000.

Accessibility and hiking trails

A variety of hiking trails, including the certified dream tour Oberkircher Brennersteig, lead directly past the Geigerskopfturm. This colorful tower is hard to miss due to its striking rainbow color.
