Location: Baden-Baden

The Caracalla Thermal Baths in Baden-Baden are a modern oasis of relaxation and well-being, rooted in a millennia-old tradition. Spanning over 5.000 square meters, they offer numerous opportunities to immerse yourself in the healing power of thermal waters and escape from everyday life.

A Roman tradition in a modern guise

As early as 2000 years ago, the Romans discovered the special properties of the thermal waters that bubble from the springs at the foot of the Florentinerberg in Baden-Baden. Emperor Caracalla, the namesake of today's thermal baths, brought the bathing culture in Baden-Baden to its first heyday and paved the way for the development of the famous spa and bathing resort.

Built in 1985, the Caracalla Thermal Baths combine this historic tradition with modern comfort. Numerous Roman elements, columns, and antiques recall the long history of bathing in Baden-Baden. The imposing dome and high-quality marble lend the thermal baths a timeless elegance and guarantee guests an incomparable ambiance.

As one of the “Great Spa Towns of Europe”, Baden-Baden can today look back on an unbroken tradition of using thermal water from ancient times to the present day.

Diverse bathing and sauna area

The Caracalla Therme is divided into different areas that offer something for every taste:

Bathing area

The bathing area includes various thermal pools with varying temperatures between 32°C and 38°C, both indoors and outdoors. The 900 square meter pools are not designed for swimming, but rather for relaxing in the various zones. Water jets and bubble loungers provide massage and relaxation.

A special highlight is the outdoor pool, which can be used all year round – even in the coldest winter, it is a special experience to relax in the warm thermal water while snowflakes dance above you.

saunas

The Roman sauna landscape offers various saunas with varying temperatures, including the particularly hot fire sauna with temperatures up to 95 degrees Celsius, which you should only stay in for a few minutes. The offering is complemented by saunas with temperatures starting at 57°C, steam baths, aroma steam baths, and relaxation areas.

The healing thermal water

The thermal water in Baden-Baden is the hottest in Baden-Württemberg and a true source of health with 3.000 dissolved minerals. "Sanus per aquam" – "Health through Water": Scientific measurements have shown that after just a 25-minute bath in the thermal water, cortisol levels in the body are significantly reduced, thus reducing stress.

Mental health benefits

In addition to the physical benefits, bathing in thermal water also supports mental health. Staying in warm water promotes the release of endorphins, which are stimulated by contact with the warm water. Therefore, bathing in thermal water can banish negative thoughts and feelings and promote a feeling of well-being and contentment.

A visit to the thermal spa is more than just a wellness experience—it's a form of self-care and mindfulness. It's a moment you give yourself to do something good for your body and mind.
