The Erdmannshöhle Hasel is one of the oldest stalactite caves in Germany. The measured total length of the cave is 2185 meters, the visible part of the cave is 360 meters long.

A few giant stalactites increase the cave's incredible fascination. One of them is Germany's largest and oldest stalactite, over four meters high and over two meters thick at the base. Its age is estimated to be over a million years.

The cave owes its name to the meerkats and female meerkats who, according to legends, once lived here. The great folk poet Johann Peter Hebel also incorporated the legend into some of his works.
