The Gugelturm was built between 1971 and 1974 on the Gugel (998 m), a mountain in the municipality of Herrischried in the Hotzenwald.
From the Gugelturm there is an outstanding view of the Black Forest, Hotzenwald, the Rhine Valley and the Vosges. With good visibility you can even see the Swiss Alps.
A bell-shaped tower was built as early as 1930. The tower, built in 1971, stood on three Douglas firs. These were replaced by laminated beams in 1990.
The tower is 30,5 m high, the viewing platform is at a height of 16 m.
