The German Watch Museum is located in the geographical center of Black Forest watchmaking. The 150-year-old collection of Black Forest clocks is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world and provides a deep insight into the history, tradition and culture of the Black Forest.

Watches from abroad were also collected here in the 19th century. Acquisitions by the state, e.g. the Hellmut Kienzle collection in 1975, complement the international holdings. Another focus of today's collection is on everyday watches. With over 8000 objects, the collection paints a multi-faceted and international picture of history and technology related to the phenomenon of time.
