The Sulzbach water path in Lahr is a very special experience for all the senses. Here children and young people can explore nature, the body of water as a habitat and source of life for many insects, animals and plants along the Sulzbach.

The water path is suitable for everyone who loves nature in the Black Forest. The starting point of the path is at Naturbad Sulz Bachstraße 51, 77933 Lahr, where you will also find sufficient parking spaces.

Expedition on the Sulzbach

The expedition trail is 4,5 km along the Suzbach. Here on the Sulzbach water path in Lahr you can get to know many different plants and animals. If you are lucky, you can also see crabs, fire salamanders, tadpoles, frogs, dragonflies, butterflies and rare birds.

There is also a lot to learn along the Sulzbachtal water path. The researchers can learn and experiment at five expedition stations, some things about the flora and fauna of the Sulzbach and the water treatment. The destination of the research tour on the Sulzbach is the beautiful, idyllic Rennweghütte in the middle of the forest

Visitors should definitely be sure-footed, as the Sulzbach water path in Lahr goes over stepping stones in the stream and footbridges. Regarding clothing, attention should be paid to functional clothing and it would also be important to wear waterproof shoes. Since the water path leads partly over footbridges and stepping stones, it is not suitable for prams or wheelchair users.

Opening times Sulzbach water path in Lahr

The Sulzbach water trail in Lahr operates from May 01st to September 30th, but only when the weather conditions are good. In the event of flooding, storms or thunderstorms, the water path is not accessible.

The water trail is closed from October 01st to April 30th. We would recommend a guided tour by a scout, who can also report on the interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the Sulzbach. You can get information about a Scout tour from the Sulz local administration, where you can also get information about the path and booking. Of course you can also walk the path individually.

Arriving by car:

Sulz natural pool car park, Bachstraße 51, 77933 Lahr
Motorway A5 exit 56 to Lahr on the federal road 36 / federal road 415, then on the K5352 in the direction of Sulz, in Sulz follow the Bachstraße to the Sulz natural pool, where you can also park in the car park.

Arrival by public transport:

From Lahr train station in the Black Forest, continue with the 105 bus in the direction of Sulz, please get off at the church. From the church, you still have to walk about 15-20 minutes to the Sulz natural pool.
