Visit the surrounding cities from the Black Forest

The beautiful Black Forest is true to many from the times of the Black Forest Clinic a term, but many are not aware that this natural area, in which the forest really shimmers in its full blackness, is not only wonderfully suitable for leisure activities of a sporting nature, but that one can very well take interesting excursions to the surrounding cities.

Since the city can look back on a historical diversity, there are a few sights to see: the Freiburg Minster with its outstanding tower, the medieval old town with its small brooks and the local recreation area Schlossberg, which can be reached with the Schlossbergbahn.


The Baden metropolis is located in the northwest of the picturesque Black Forest Karlsruhewhich is definitely worth visiting if you are already in the area. This city has a lot to offer.

Some also refer to it as the gateway to the Black Forest.

The castle and a multitude of museums, galleries and theaters invite you to visit. There is always something going on in this city. Since the climate is very mild and Karlsruhe is one of the warmest cities in Germany, you can feel a Mediterranean flair here. Life also takes place outdoors in the evening. Southern lightness paired with the beauty of German architecture provide a great backdrop. There are a lot of open-air events in summer or in the warm season.

Worth mentioning is the zoological city park, which houses lakes, gardens and a wildlife park.

Located south of Karlsruhe, Ettlingen can also be visited right away. As in the other cities of the Black Forest, there is a lot to see here: The town hall in the pedestrian zone, the market square, the beautiful churches, St. Martin or the Bismarck Tower - it never gets boring in Ettlingen.

The city also has attractive green spaces that offer relaxation and recreation, because the nature of the Black Forest extends into the cities.


The formerly glamorous bathing town Baden-Baden comes from the Belle Époque and is still very popular today due to its charm. The spa complex dates back to 1824 and the casino resembles the Palace of Versailles, which was considered an architectural model. Baden-Baden experienced its heyday in the 19th century, but in times of Instagram & Co, this pearl is experiencing a revival. Too many beautiful motifs, it would be a shame that this pearl is forgotten. Along the Oos lies the Lichtentaler Allee, the city's promenade for strolling.


The beauty of the Black Forest is not only its nature, but also its proximity to the most beautiful cities in Germany. In addition to Freiburg, Badeb-Baden and Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, which is only a few kilometers away, has to be mentioned at this point.
