The Black Forest is the highest and largest contiguous low mountain range in Germany. It is located in Baden-Württemberg and is the most visited holiday destination. No matter whether on foot, by bike, motorhome or car. You can also explore the Black Forest in different ways. Today we explore it by car, along one of the most beautiful holiday routes, the Black Forest Bäderstraße.

On a circuit of approx. 270 km between Pforzheim and Freudenstadt let's see what the Black Forest has to offer in terms of beauty. Coniferous forests wherever you look, mountain ridges, raised bogs and vines define the picture around and in the beautiful Black Forest.

The route leads through picturesque villages, beautiful medieval towns and medicinal baths. Exemplary for this

Just to name a few. A visit is definitely worthwhile if you just want to be pampered and let all five be.

The circuit on the Black Forest Bäderstraße begins in beautiful Pforzheim, which is also known as Goldstadt because of its jewelry production. It continues through the Nagoldtal, here you can definitely make a detour to the dam, also called Nagoldsperre and surrounded by 650 hectares of landscape protection area. If you have time, you are not in a hurry, the weather is right, you can sail, surf here and when the sun is shining you can swim a few laps in the front pool.

Once you have crossed the Nagoldtal, the journey continues to Maulbronn. The monastery is a former Cistercian abbey and is located in the center of Maulbronn. And due to its almost original state of preservation, it is also an absolute must.

Next stop on the Freudenstadt circuit. Freudenstadt has the largest marketplace in Germany. The market square was built in 1599 according to plans by Heinrich Schickhardt (master builder). The market square measures 219m x 216m. So, if you want to enjoy the day and let the wind blow your nose with a nice cup of coffee, you are cordially invited to Germany's largest market square!

Who knows the Adventure Golf Park? There is one in Enzklösterle, also known as the blueberry village in the Black Forest. Games and fun on 18 lanes. A mini golf course for everyone. Over Holzrugel, dry stone walls, a water film or through a rock field, everything that the Black Forest has to offer. Adventure, skill and a strategic approach are the order of the day and boredom is a foreign word.

If you're exhausted and like it quiet, then you can take a detour to the Hirsau Monastery Calw. The monastery complex of St. Peter and Paul is now known beyond the regional borders of Calw.

But it can also be very fairytale-like on the Black Forest Bäderstraße, namely in Hauff's fairy tale museum in Baiersbronn. An oasis for children to do handicrafts, play and browse in their own children's corner.

And when you get hungry, Baiersbronn is the place for you. Baiersbronn, also known and famous as the “star village”. Here you can satisfy your hunger in the top gastronomy, and then continue your journey towards Bad Wildbad, satisfied.

Do you know the funicular rallway? No, then you should definitely plan some time here and take the funicular rallway (funicular), Germany's most modern cable car, to the high plateau of the Sommerberg, 300m above the valley. Enjoy the view and if there is still time, explore the nearby forest canopy path.

But you can also relax along the Black Forest Bäderstraße. In Bad Rippoldsau-Schapbach, located in the wild and romantic Wolftal. The next stage destination. Here you will find the highest mineral and mud bath, do you like more variety? No problem. You can find them in Bad Liebenzell in the Paracelsus Therme and Sauna Pinea. A varied bathing landscape, with indoor and outdoor pools, steam bath, rock steam grotto, graduation tower or saline (here the air is enriched with salt by trickling salty water (brine) over blackthorn branches) and adventure showers. There is something for everyone. Pure relaxation.

We continue to Bad Herrenalb. If you want to look at the world from above again, have not had enough and are not averse to the height, you can go to the Falkenfelsen and do your best in the climbing garden.

Baden-Baden. Next stop. The best address for music is here, in Germany's largest opera and concert hall.

Along the Schwarzwald Bäderstraße you should definitely take a break in Altensteig and visit the medieval town complex (tower hill castle) Berneck from the 11th century and the historic old town.

The city trip is intended to give you a little insight into the diversity of sights in the Black Forest along the Black Forest Bäderstraße. Hopefully while reading you have already planned your next trip ?!
