With the Schluchtensteig, the Black Forest has a premium quality long-distance hiking trail in addition to the Westweg. The route is 118 kilometers long and starts from Stühlingen through the Wutach Gorge and on over Schluchsee, St Blasien, Dead moss to Wehr, the Schluchtensteig need not shy away from any comparison anywhere in Germany.
The Schluchtensteig was awarded the seal of approval “Quality Trail Hikable Germany” back in 2008.
The trail is sometimes very demanding, only suitable for sure-footed hikers and requires a good level of fitness on many sections.
