In his honor, a festive church service is traditionally held on August 10th at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Lawrence Chapel near the Todtnau Hut. This service marks the opening of St. Lawrence's Day, when cattle dealers inspect their livestock on the summer pastures and sell them at the cattle market. Since no trading takes place on Sunday, the St. Lawrence Festival is never celebrated on a Sunday, but rather on the preceding Saturday.
