Traditional Laurentius Festival

The name giver for the famous Laurentius Festival is Saint Laurentius, who died a martyr's death in Rome on August 10, 258.

Saint Lawrence is the patron saint of shepherds and flocks.

In his honor it is traditionally held on August 10th at 9:30 a.m. Laurentius Chapel A festive service was celebrated at the Todtnauer Hütte. This service is the opening for Laurentius Day, on which cattle dealers examine their cattle on the summer pasture and sell them at the cattle market. Since there is no trading on Sunday, the Laurentius Festival is never celebrated on a Sunday, but brought forward to Saturday.

After a successful trade, the huts celebrate lively.

Today, the Laurentius Festival is not just a festival for cattle traders, but also attracts guests from near and far.
